We want to help you tell your story…
and we believe every piece of it matters: the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the ugly. The human experience is a collection of stories we have lived to tell, for better or for worse. It’s time to honor the vastness of our humanity through multidimensional storytelling. In a day and age when the internet and social media platforms are often used to highlight our differences, we have created a place to draw us back to one of the most original forms of human communication - storytelling.
Here, it’s not about being right or wrong, good or bad, or what team you’re on; it’s about connecting us back to ourselves and to each other through the beauty found in every piece of our story. We are more than a resume, a highlight reel on social media, or the roles we play in society; we are more than our physical abilities or intellectual achievements, more than our ethnicity, gender, or sexuality, and we are more than our religious affiliation or political preferences.
So, how do we go about answering the question “Who am I?” Here at Backstory, we believe you are worthy to be known for the truth of who you are and that for such a time as this the world needs who you were created to be. So, where do we start? Like every good story, we have to go back to the beginning. We are with you. Are you ready?
How It Works

Step 1 - Create a Site
Sign up with your email to easily start a backstory for yourself or a loved one. Personalize your profile and choose your security settings (you control access to your site and can see who is viewing it).

Step 2 - Build Your Timeline
Following a few simple steps, you will brainstorm your major life events, organize the events chronologically, divide the events into chapters, and title each chapter accordingly. Then you will write an introduction, conclusion, and chapter summaries.

Step 3- Tell Your Backstory
Pick any life event from your timeline and tell the backstory. The best part? There are multiple ways you can tell your story. You can upload a photo album, record a voice memo, write a blog post, make a video, create a reel, or answer prompted interview-style questions. You get to choose, its your life story.
